Exegetical Study on the Book of Acts

  • 35 Steps

About

This course is a focused exegetical study of the Book of Acts, with particular emphasis on literary and neo-literary methods. Designed for advanced theological students, the course explores Acts not only as a historical document but as a dynamic narrative that shapes biblical theology and ministry practice. Through detailed analysis of selected texts, students will engage with the language, structure, and theological richness of Acts, sharpening their interpretive skills with attention to its Greek text. The course begins with foundational questions of authorship, historicity, sources, and purpose, engaging both early church voices and contemporary scholarship. It then situates the Book of Acts within its broader socio-political, economic, and religious world, helping students grasp the contextual forces that shaped the early church's witness. Core theological themes such as the Holy Spirit, church growth, conversion, mission, and the role of women will be examined, along with exegesis of key narrative passages. Informed by sound hermeneutical principles, the course ultimately challenges students to interpret and apply the message of Acts within the Indian context and beyond—connecting the Word of God to the realities of modern ministry and mission.
